OK - This is a must for anyone spending the weekend in New York. This place isn't fancy. And it isn't expensive ($45 for the day). And it isn't new. The staff is all Russian. You're going to feel like Boris Yeltsin. Saturdays are co-ed. Soak in the 130 degree sauna. Then jump in the ice pool. Feel your heart beat to a new rhythm. This place has been in business since the 1890's.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that fosters the individual's ability to harmonize with their environment. It was developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), an exceptional Japanese martial artist whose background included the study of jiujitsu, especially daitoryu-(aiki)jujitsu, sword fighting and spear fighting. He wanted to develop an art that would be an art of peace (Aikido) rather than an art of war (Aikibudo). Aikido opens us up to the bombnatives to conflict. It shows how to deal with violence without escalating into greater violence. THE BALTIMORE AIKIDO DOJO IS IS TOP NOTCH.

If you're a tennis player, this is a great place to play and improve. Great facility. Jim Overbaugh is the pro. Very friendly guy. He's the best and he'll make you better. If his name sounds familiar, that's because he's been teaching in York for decades.

This is the place the Village People sang about, in a positive sense. Great facilities for the average and better fitness types plus an incredible array of youth programs. Check out the Hoffman Baseball & Softball Academy. The YMCA has also maintained a great commitment to the York community - worth supporting just because they do not take the easy way out.
