Aikido is a Japanese martial art that fosters the individual’s ability to harmonize with their environment. It was developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), an exceptional Japanese martial artist whose background included the study of jiujitsu, especially daitoryu-(aiki)jujitsu, sword fighting and spear fighting. He wanted to develop an art that would be an art of peace (Aikido) rather than an art of war (Aikibudo). Aikido opens us up to the bombnatives to conflict. It shows how to deal with violence without escalating into greater violence. THE BALTIMORE AIKIDO DOJO IS IS TOP NOTCH.
